Crimson lips are always a great way to spice up one's makeup routine and add a little 40s glamour to an evening out. Unfortunately, most lipsticks get that lovely red shade from carmine, a pigment obtained by boiling female cochineal beetles. Lucky for us vegan gals, Aveda has come up with a way to make our lips rosy -- minus the crawly component. Their new Nourish-Mint line derives its shades from minerals, not bugs, and also contains good stuff like coconut protein, soy and sweet almond oil to plump and moisturize. Another perk is the vanilla pepperminty scent, so your lips not only look fierce but smell great. There are plenty of colors to choose from, but Babe's favorites are Rayflower and Poppy. Nourish-Mint lipsticks are available at aveda.com and at Aveda salons for $14.
